UMPQUA VALLEY – The Roseburg Indians wrestling team won the Special District 6 team title at Thurston High School on Saturday with 481 points, beating 2nd place North Medford which finished with 326 points. Roseburg had seven wrestlers win district championships and 19 wrestlers qualified for the state meet, where the Indians will shoot for a third state title.

Roseburg’s individual district champions were: Hunter Sparks, Bennett Mesa, Shane Sabins, Austin Harris, Layne VanAnrooy, Gage Maddux, and Haydn Maley. Other state qualifiers include: Austin David, Cody Pickle, Brandon Jeffers, Terrell Jacks, Cameron Campbell, Will Reddekopp, Thomas Spence, Bailey Humbert, Ethan Stoner, Tyler Kienel, Garrett Russell, and Keagan McDowell.

At the 3A level, Glide placed 2nd at the Special District 3 meet. The Wildcats finished 51.5 points behind La Pine for the district title. Glide had four wrestlers win district championships and a total of 10 qualified for state.
Glide’s individual state champions include: Kasey Collier, Ryland Parazoo, Dylan Potter, and William Beard. The following wrestlers also qualified for the state meet: Zach Holland, Devin Sheldon, Rhett Syverson, Cayden Kangiser, Aubrey Syverson, Collyn Potter.
At the 2A/1A level, Riddle placed fifth at the Special District 2 meet and qualified two wrestlers for state. Derrick Hargraves won at 113-pounds and Charles Hardage finished runner-up at 138-pounds. Oakland finished 6th at the same meet and North Douglas place 8th. Michael Sloan and Braydon Simmons of Oakland both finished second in their weight classes and qualified for the state meet.
Glendale took 6th at the Special District 3 meet and had Bryan Corbett qualify for the state meet with a second place finish at 195-pounds.
