UMPQUA VALLEY – It’s the final three games of the regular season for the Roseburg boys and girls basketball teams and the final week of regular season action for the 4A teams, Sutherlin, Douglas, and South Umpqua, and the 3A Glide Wildcats.

The Roseburg girls are close to clinching an automatic berth to the state playoffs for a second time in the two years that Rich Robles has been the head coach of the Indians. One more win for Roseburg could be all that is needed to secure no worse than a fourth place finish in the Southwest Conference, but the Indians must try to take down league-leader South Medford. The Panthers haven’t lost in league play and have already clinched another conference title. Roseburg visits South Medford Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Roseburg boys haven’t mathematically been eliminated from a top four finish in the Southwest Conference and an automatic bid to the first round of the state playoffs, but the odds are not with the Indians. Roseburg could still wind up tied with South Eugene for fourth place, which would then require a tie-breaking scenario beyond head-to-head records to decide the fourth-seed for playoff purposes.

Yet, in order to tie South Eugene, Roseburg would need to win it’s final three games against league leading South Medford, second place North Medford, and Willamette. The Indians would also need South Eugene to loose all three of its final games.

The post season is on the line over the next week-and-a-half for the Roseburg boys and it starts Tuesday with a home game against South Medford. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and pregame coverage starts at 6:45 p.m. on 1490 The Score or watch the game streaming live on 541radio.com

The Sutherlin boys will face the top two teams in the Sky-Em League in the final week of the regular season and their playoff hopes will be hanging in the balance. The Bulldogs are tied for fourth place, but only two-games behind Junction City for second. The top three teams in the league are guaranteed a post season game.

The boys will host league-leading Cottage Grove on Tuesday followed by a trip to Junction City on Friday. Tuesday’s game against the Lions will tipoff at 7:15 p.m. and can be heard on i101fm.

The Sutherlin girls are coming off of their thrilling five overtime victory against Elmira on Friday that clinched the a second consecutive Sky-Em League title for the Lady Bulldogs. On Tuesday, Sutherlin hosts fourth place Cottage Grove with hopes of keeping their perfect league record intact. The girls tipoff at 5:45 p.m. and pregame coverage can be heard at 5:30 p.m. on i101fm.

In the Far West League, the Douglas girls are on the bubble for the post season. The Lady Trojans trail Marshfield and North Bend, which are tied for second place, by just one game. A strong finish could notch Douglas a home play-in game for the post season. The Trojans visit Siuslaw Tuesday with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys following at 7:30 p.m.

The South Umpqua boys are reeling after losing to rival Douglas last Friday, but the Lancers are still tied for second with North Bend and can earn a home play-in game by edging the Bulldogs for a runner-up finish. It won’t be easy though, as the Lancers host undefeated Marshfield on Tuesday night. The boys tipoff at 7:30 p.m.
