ALBANY – It was a clean sweep over the Linn-Benton Roadrunners for the Umpqua Riverhawks on Wednesday.

The women started the night with a big 88-55 victory, led by sophomore Sawyer Kluge and her 26 points. The Lady Riverhawks pulled out to an 8-point lead in the first quarter and doubled it in the second for a 43-27 edge at the break.

Umpqua widened its lead in the second half thanks to a better shooting night from behind the arc. The Riverhawks also out-rebounded Linn-Benton 50-34.

Sophomore Anna Mumm added 21 points for the Riverhawks and grabbed 11 rebounds. She also had six blocked shots for a strong all around performance.

The Lady Riverhawks have now won three straight games and have a one-game lead over third place Clark College for the second seed in the South Region. There are four games left to play in the regular season for Umpqua.

The Umpqua men played an extremely close game against Linn-Benton, but hung on for an 83-78 win. The contest was tied 37-37 after one half of action, but in the second, UCC got hot from 3-point land and also got to the free throw line more than twice as often as the Roadrunners.

Charles Porter led the Riverhawks with 26 points and 15 rebounds.

The win keeps UCC in the hunt for the post season and one-game ahead of Chemeketa for the final playoff spot out of the South Region.

Up next for Umpqua is a home series against Clackamas on Saturday. The games will tipoff from UCC at 2 p.m. with the women going first.
