PORTLAND – The basketball regular season is winding down in the Northwest Athletic Conference and the Umpqua men and women are still in the hunt for a berth in the conference tournament despite splitting against Portland Community College on Saturday.

The Umpqua men remain in fourth place in the South Region standings after losing in double overtime 83-78 to the Panthers. Portland pulled out to a three-point lead at halftime, but the Riverhawks battled back to tie the game 57-all at the end of regulation. In the first overtime, both sides managed just 10 points, but in the second overtime session the Panthers outscored Umpqua 16-11 for the win.

Three Umpqua players finished with double-doubles in the game. Wade Miller scored a game-high 22 points for the Riverhawks and pulled down 10 rebounds. Hyrum Harris and Charles Porter also had 10 rebounds to go along with 12 and 13 points respectively.

Sophomore Anna Mumm scored a career-high 52 points to lead the Umpqua women to their second straight win, a 118-84 victory on top of Portland on Saturday.  Mumm made 22-of-32  shots from the floor and also added a season-high 26 rebounds for a double-double. The Lady Riverhawks jumped out to a 36-17 lead after the first quarter and then cruised to the win.

Up next for the Umpqua men and women is a visit to Linn-Benton on Wednesday.
