In their final tune-ups before Far West League play begins on Friday, the South Umpqua boys and girls hosted Elmira Tuesday, but couldnÕt come away with some important wins.Ê

The girls played first and dropped their 12th straight game in a 54-20 loss to the Falcons.Ê

The boyÕs game followed and things were much closer for the first half of action. The Lancers pulled out to a 15-12 lead after the first quarter, but trailed the Falcons by three at the half. Elmira started to pull away in the third quarter and cruised to a 53-40 victory.Ê

Cody Gray led the Lancers with 16 points. Austin Smith scored a game-high 20 points for Elmira. The loss is the fourth straight for South Umpqua.Ê
