The Umpqua women won for a third consecutive time and remained undefeated in conference play on Saturday against Portland, while the Umpqua men improved to 2-1 in conference games by also defeating the Panthers.
The UCC women shot over 50-percent for the game and had four players finish in double figures on their way to a 97-72 victory over Portland.
Sawyer Kluge scored a team-high 23 points and freshman Syd Clark scored 21 to finish one-point shy of her season best. Kluge also pulled down 10 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season.
The UCC men pulled out to a 13-point first half lead, but had to hold off Portland after the break for a 96-91 win. The Riverhawks made 13 3-pointers and shot 65-percent from behind the arc to stay in front of the Panthers.
Mikko Balmes scored a game-high 24 points to lead Umpqua and Wade Miller added 18.
The Riverhawks will next host Linn-Benton on Wednesday at the Umpqua Community College gym. The women play first at 5:30 p.m. and the menÕs game follows at 7:30 p.m.
