The Sheldon Irish had the shooterÕs touch on Friday night and, despite the Roseburg IndiansÕ best efforts, the Irish pulled off a 55-43 victory at Umpqua Community College.Ê

The Sheldon (8-4; 1-1 SWC) boys hit 14 3-pointers to outpace a resilient Roseburg (5-7; 0-2 SWC) team. The Irish pulled out to a 26-15 lead in the first quarter behind five threeÕs from JR Wulf.

The Indians fought back in the second quarter to cut the deficit to just six at halftime. After SheldonÕs Zach Diehl hit a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to 14 points, the Indians went on an 8-0 run to finish the half down 31-25.Ê

RoseburgÕs Hayden Luttrell hit a 3-pointer to start the third quarter to get the Indians to within three points. Luttrell hit another with just over two minutes left in the quarter that got Roseburg to within two points.

The Irish rallied for a 5-0 run and led 43-36 going to the fourth quarter. Sheldon hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start the final period and led by double figures the rest of the way.Ê

Wulf finished with a game-high 21 points for the Irish. The junior drained seven 3-pointers. Roseburg senior JD Fairbairn score 20 points to lead the Indians.Ê

Roseburg has a week off before they head north to face the South Eugene Axemen. The Indians tipoff at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 15.Ê
