In the aftermath of OregonÕs collapse against TCU in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday, head coach Mark Helfrich has demoted defensive coordinator Don Pellum to linebackers coach, as announced by the program on Monday.

The Ducks will commence a national search for a new defensive coordinator, according to the release. Pellum took over the coordinator position two seasons ago after Nick Aliotti retired from the job following the 2013 season. Pellum has been a full-time assistant with Oregon for 23 years.

Helfrich also announced the departure of outside linebackers coach Erik Chinander, who has accepted a position to become a defensive coordinator at another FBS program. That program is reported to be UCF, where former Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost has just taken over as head coach. Chinander spent two seasons with the Ducks.
