The Lady Bulldogs had a battle with a tough Sandy team before they were able to pull away in the second half and win comfortably 36-20 on Tuesday. The victory puts Sutherlin in the championship game Wednesday night against the host team, Astoria, in the Vince Dulcich Invitational Christmas Tournament at Astoria High School Brickhouse Gymnasium.

Ê

The Sutherlin girls only led 8-7 after a quarter, but built the lead to 19-12 at the half. Then the defense held Sandy to just two points in the third quarter while Harlee Baker got nine of her game-high 13 points and Sutherlin went on to the 16-point victory and improved to 11-1 for the season.

The Bulldogs play Astoria at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night for the championship. Astoria defeatred R.A. Long of Longivew (WA) 47-30 to move into the championship game.
