ROSEBURG – The Roseburg softball team challenged conference leader Grants Pass in the early going on Tuesday, but the proved to be Cavers were too much in the end. Grants Pass survived its trip to Stewart Park with a 7-5 win over Roseburg in eight innings.

The Indians led 5-1 after five innings of play, but G.P. stormed back down the stretch. The Cavemen pushed across the tying run with two outs in the seventh inning to extend the game into extras. Grants Pass (15-2; 10-1 SWC) took a two-run lead in the top of the eighth with an RBI double and a single.

Roseburg (11-7; 8-4 SWC) got two runners on base in their final at bats, but couldn’t bring them around to keep their upset bid alive.

The loss snaps Roseburg’s five-game winning streak. The RHS softball team has a bye on Saturday and will visit South Medford next Tuesday.
