SPRINGFIELD – The Roseburg Renegades junior state baseball team improved to 4-1 in league play with a doubleheader split against the Thurston Red on Tuesday.

The Renegades took game one 6-2 behind a complete game pitching performance by Stephen Assed. He pitched seven innings and struck out seven, while not allowing an earned run. The offense backed him up with four runs in the sixth inning to put the Renegades on top. Mason Littlefield and Luke Van Norman each finished with two hits in the game.

Game two was an offensive onslaught as the two team combined for 18 hits, but the Renegades came out on the short side losing 15-12.

Up next, the Renegades visit North Medford on Wednesday for a non-league doubleheader starting at noon.
