It was a fairly light schedule on the baseball and softball diamonds Wednesday for Umpqua Basin teams. Mother Nature got the best of most of the games originally on the schedule.

The Glide and Sutherlin baseball and softball teams managed to find a way to get games completed on Wednesday despite the weather.

The Sutherlin baseball team topped Glide 8-3 in a five inning game. The contest was called early due to rain. Payton Hope picked up the win for the Bulldogs. He struck out seven in four innings of work. Dylin Peterman and Riley Westbrooks both drove in a pair of runs to pace the Sutherlin offense. Cayden Kangiser drove in two for Glide.

The Glide softball team performed well at home, defeating Sutherlin 8-2 Wednesday afternoon. Glide’s Whitney Stone belted a home run in the contest and Rachel Majors double twice for the Wildcats. Both players drove in two runs.

Thursday’s schedule has only a few games planned, but rain could wash out more early season match-ups. Below is a look at what’s on tap. Updates will be made if games are postponed or cancelled.
