ROSEBURG – The Roseburg track and field team kicked off its season with a three-team meet at home on Wednesday. The Indians hosted Sutherlin and South Umpqua at Finlay Field.

The Roseburg boys had a strong day, winning all but three events. Hunter Agsten and Julian Wood were multiple event winners at the meet. Agsten dominated the long distance competitions with wins in the 1,500 and 3,000 meter races. Wood excelled in the 110 and 300 meter hurdle races, winning both by wide margins.

On the girl’s side, it was South Umpqua that took first in the majority of events. The Lady Lancers won seven events, while Roseburg won five and Sutherlin won four. South Umpqua had three multiple-event winners. Jadyn Vermillion won the 400 meter race and the long jump. Bethany Kalebaugh won in the 1,500 and 3,000 meter races. Audevon Beamer was victorious in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles.

Sutherlin’s Kiersten Porter also won two events, the shot put and the javelin.
