GRANTS PASS – The Roseburg girls basketball team snapped a 9-game losing streak to end the regular season on Tuesday night and put themselves in decent position to make a 6A play-in game this weekend.

The Indians went to overtime against Grants Pass and then shut out the Lady Cavers for a 30-26 victory. It was the first win in over a month for the Roseburg girls.

Neither team’s offense was overly successful on the night. Grants Pass led 3-2 after the first quarter and pulled ahead by five at halftime. The Indians pulled ahead by one after three quarters and the game was tied 26-26 at the end of regulation. Roseburg outscored Grants Pass 4-0 in overtime.

Sammie Bergman scored nine to lead Roseburg. Jordan Kujawski led Grants Pass with 10.

Now, the Roseburg girls will wait to find out their post season destiny. The Indians need to be ranked No. 36 or higher to secure a play-in round game. Currently Roseburg is ranked No. 33 by the OSAA. The rankings freeze on Thursday at 10 p.m. once the rest of the 6A classification is done playing.

Unless the Roseburg girls drastically rise in the rankings, they will most likely be on the road for any possible play-in game match-up.
