SISTERS, OR – Sutherlin played a tough first half against Sisters Friday night, but let a big opportunity slip away with less than a minute to go in the first half.

The Bulldogs (0-4) were down 14-0 and came up short on fourth and goal at the four. Then with 30 seconds left, they gave up an 86-yard, double reverse touchdown pass to Christopher Luz, which gave the Outlaws a 21-0 lead and they were never threatened after that.

Luz also ran the opening kickoff back 85 yards for a score.

In the second half , it was all Sisters (3-1) as they rolled to a 44-0 victory.

Sutherlin coach Sean Radford said not getting a score at the end of the half and then giving up a long one with just seconds left in the half completely changed the game.

“We had opportunities at the end of the first half to score, we created some turnovers, just didn’t capitalize, so we have to get back to practice and figure out how to put the ball in the end zone,” said Radford.

The Bulldogs drop to 0-1 in the Sky-Em League, while Sisters improved to 1-0.

Sutherlin hosts Elmira next Friday in Sky-Em play.
