BEND – The Oregon State football team got an earlier start to fall camp, which means the Beavers are farther along in the mandatory five-day acclimation period and practices are starting to heat up.

Oregon State was wearing shells on Monday (helmets and shoulder pads), which means there was some light hitting, but no full tackling. With the increased contact, tempers got the best of some of the Beavers’ players. According to multiple reports, a couple of small scuffles broke out during the portion of practice open to the media. Players had to be separated and afterwards, the team ran extra and did sit-ups as a small consequence.

The Beavers ramp up the intensity even more on Tuesday, as the team will don full pads for the first time this fall. Oregon State continues to practice in Bend at Summit High School. The team has practice Tuesday and its first two-a-day camp on Wednesday before heading back to Corvallis to continue practices.
